I went to Davis yesterday to check out 2 living quarters. I'm relieved to say that I finally have a place to live for the upcoming school year. I have my own room that is an attachment to a family house. The place is rented out by a single mom and her 2 teenage girls. The room comes fully furnished, so I don't have to put a hassle in moving my bed and table from last year's apartment... Granted, that the girls over there don't mind if they keep it a little longer. The downside to this room is that the family doesn't know if they're going to stay there next year, but that's a small issue. I get my own toilet room (sort of) but I have to share the shower and the kitchen. I'm probably just going to overuse my microwave since she already has a mini fridge in the room. The place is in a quite neighborhood and is pretty close to campus, so that's a plus too! Now, I just have decide on whether or not I need a car.
Before checking out the place mentioned above, I went to Sac to pick up my mother's car. She's giving it to me since my dad told her he was planning to buy me one. She was originally going to sell the car since she only takes the bus nowadays. I don't know if I want it or not. We were in a rush so we brought it back to SF. A '94 Lexus ES seems pretty old. I spent 2 hours cleaning it today and it's still dirty. The starter doesn't work very well; it's hard to turn the key...not hard to start the car (yeah, sort of hard to explain). It's a 6 engine, so it'll drink up gas. In addition, I don't really need a car in Davis unless I decide to work in Sacramento.
Anyways, I'm so proud that I didn't crash. I had to drive my dad's car from Sacramento to San Francisco, since my dad was driving my mother's car. I was clenching the wheel so hard my hands hurt a lot after the 90 minute drive. I suck at checking my blindspot on the right side. As a result, I think I swerved into the left lane 3 times (if not, more) because cars in that space scared me. Good thing the left lane was empty during those times.
So, the ultimate question is: To keep or not to keep the car????
